I am… totally shocked to be selected for this… I feel super honored!

I like… learning new things, being outside, loving on animals, cooking, laughing, fast cars, craft beer…. and kettle chips!

I dislike… being late, slow drivers, snakes and kale.

I eat… a plant-based diet. I eat a lot, and often, and then I eat again.

I will… try to stay positive, no matter what.

 

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…

I was born and raised in the Dayton area and 95% of my family are in the area too. I’m an only child but have quite a large family – they’re great and I’m super lucky. I got married last year (Jeff), have two step-kiddos (Jess & Alex) and a Yorkie named Layla, who’s the love of my life (sorry hubs!). I love to cook and to share food with anyone and everyone. I also love to be outside for any reason – especially for bonfires! I went to UD (Go Flyers!) and graduated with a Business Admin and Communications degree. I’ve worked at Ball Aerospace supporting WPAFB for almost seven years. I am a Research Coordinator at AFRL working with a group that researches the human visual system. Animals are my true passion/love and if I could do it all over again I’d probably become a veterinarian. I’m also super into reading/learning about nutrition and would love to have a food/cooking blog.

 

What brought you to Centerville CrossFit and CrossFit in general?

I have always done some form of exercise but started to feel like I was losing motivation and was no longer seeing results. I saw the advertisement for the six week New You Challenge at Centerville CrossFit and thought I would give it a try. Needless to say, I loved it and joined after completing the six weeks. I’m looking forward to taking my fitness to the next level, and beyond, with CrossFit.

 

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?

I’ve only been a full-fledged member for about two months now but so far I’ve learned a lot and one of my immediate goals was to get over any apprehension about learning unknown movements. Prior to CrossFit, I had never done any Olympic lifting or gymnastics-type work and learning those movements has been both challenging and fun. I have many goals for the future; some of which are to be able to do strict pull-ups, rope climbs, and string together double-unders, to get over my fear of box jumps, and to maybe someday take part in the open.

 

What is your favorite movement?

Deadlifts and squats.

 

What is your least favorite movement?

Push-ups.

 

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” ~Gandhi

 

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?

For those thinking about joining: Seriously, just do it. It’s hard work but it’s so much stinking fun and it makes you feel like a million bucks. For new members: Don’t be intimidated or worry about what you CAN’T do. Focus on what you CAN do and work your tail off. There is no better feeling than completing a WOD, knowing you pushed yourself harder than before, and having that feeling of accomplishment! Here’s to fist bumps, sweat angels and Fran lung!

 

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?

My favorite thing about Centerville CrossFit is the community. I honestly did not know what to expect and I have been so incredibly and pleasantly surprised. All the coaches, staff, and members go out of their way to make you feel included. The coaches are supportive, helpful and encouraging – they always make you feel good about what you can do and give you the confidence to do more and more each day. The members are welcoming and I already feel like I have many new friends. The energy within the community is infectious. It’s such a positive place to be – it absolutely makes me better.
