Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…
I’m naturally very shy and I must admit a little embarrassed to talk about myself.  Maybe others can relate, but it’s just painful! I’m from the Dayton area. I’ve been married for almost 11 years, have 3 kids and even a minivan!  WOW, that makes me sound older than I feel! My husband flies for American Airlines and spends so much time away from home he rents a place in Philadelphia and splits his time between there and home. If I’m not at work (Marketing at Synchrony) or at CCF, I’m chasing after our 3 kids.  Between all their activities and school, I’m always on the move. My family lives locally and I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my parents. They’re my rocks. As for hobbies, I don’t have time for hobbies beyond CrossFit, but I am a junky for audio books because I can listen while doing other things.   I just finished The Power of Habit and The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck.  I LOVED and recommend both.  If you have any recommendations, I’m all ears!

What brought you to Centerville Crossfit and CrossFit in general?
I wanted something different.  I was getting bored of going to the gym and I wasn’t progressing. I thought I’d check out this thing called CrossFit.  Throwing a barbell overhead and squatting seemed intimidating and not like something I would ever do. I figured I’d see if I could learn some new tricks and signed up.  

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?
Creating healthy eating habits and getting my knee and shoulder pain free both have been huge achievements for me. I feel healthier at 36 than I did at 26 and I hope that at 46 this trend continues. Goal rest of this year is to get stronger, while continuing to move pain free.   (Learning how to rope climb and my 1st HSPU also felt pretty good!)

What is your favorite movement?
Deadlifts

What is your least favorite movement?
Handstand pushup

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?
Hard to pick a favorite, but it’s always relevant to remind myself that… “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?
Be consistent.  Find a few buddies to keep you honest.  If you’re considering it, don’t be intimidated.  There are people at all levels of fitness and they’re all wonderful.  

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?
I love so much about CCF.  I love the schedule, so many class times offered.  I love the pride taken in keeping the gym professional and clean, sometimes those barbells sparkle! I love the coaches.  They have a love for the sport of CrossFit and a passion for coaching and helping others achieve their goals. When I’m slacking off, they call me out on it.  They believe in me when I don’t believe in me and that’s given me the courage to try new things. I also love my classmates. We suffer together and I have lots of respect for those that continue showing up and putting in the effort to better themselves.
