Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…
I am a wife and a stay-at-home mom who likes to volunteer on a regular basis with charitable organizations. I am a singer in a band and currently take classical voice lessons. I love traveling, adventure, and I’m never afraid to try new things.

What brought you to Centerville Crossfit and CrossFit in general?
After moving back to Dayton from London, England with my family, my diet and exercise routine had gone by the wayside. I was tired, depressed, and unhealthy. In September 2016, I saw an ad on Facebook one night for the New You Challenge, and signed up. I even kept it a secret from my husband for awhile because I was worried that he would think CrossFit was too extreme for me. (Obviously he didn’t, because he’s a member of CCF now, too.) After the rude awakening of my first New You class (I almost threw up), I wondered if I made the right decision. I finished two New You sessions and never looked back. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?
When I first started, one of my first goals was to be able to run around the building one time! I’ve come a long way since then. I’ve hit numerous weightlifting PRs; hitting a 200 pound back squat was a recent achievement. Surviving a mock weightlifting competition was another. My new goals are getting that first pull-up and climbing that darn rope.

What is your favorite movement?
Clean and jerk. I feel like I learn something with every new attempt.

What is your least favorite movement?
Overhead squats.

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?
“Have a good time, all the time.” — Viv Savage, Spinal Tap

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?
DO IT. Just get yourself to the gym, three times a week. Make good food choices. The rest will fall into place.

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?
I love that I can go to a class any time of day and I will have a coach that can scale a WOD so I can complete a great workout. I love the positive atmosphere and camaraderie amongst athletes and coaches. Life can be hard, but having a great ‘box’ sure does help. 🙂
