2018 November: Shasta Beam

I am…a wife and a mother of two children.

I like…my hour of CrossFit every day, animals (dogs), sports, doughnuts, and warm climates.

I dislike…mornings, sushi, and baseball.

I eat…what Mitch tells me to eat (85% of the time).

I will…continue to work hard every day at everything.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…
I work part time out of my home doing HR stuff for my husband’s I.T. Company. I graduated from UC with a Political Science degree but I hate politics. I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies other than CrossFit because I’m too busy facilitating little human hobbies. Our family spends a lot of time doing soccer and basketball activities.  We visit Torch Lake in Michigan every summer where we spend time outdoors and with grandparents. We love to travel as a family to new warm places during the winter.

What brought you to Centerville Crossfit and CrossFit in general?
I joined Centerville CrossFit through the New You program in Feb. of 2017. Before joining CrossFit my workouts were usually only cardio. I was a runner, biker, and played some tennis, but had no experience with weights. I wanted something more, but I really had no idea what I was getting myself into!

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?
I have achieved so much so far that I don’t know where to begin? I have lost 30+ pounds since I started and I now eat more clean. I have learned to climb the rope and just recently I can do toes to bar. I remember dead lifting around 100lbs when I first started and now I’m near 200lbs. I would like to conquer pull ups and double unders this year.

What is your favorite movement?
I like anything that usually involves lower body. (Squats, deadlifts, cardio)

What is your least favorite movement?
Probably….push-ups?

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?
“You become what you believe.” –Oprah W.

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?
Just come and try it! Making the decision to walk through the door is probably 90% of the hardest part. I tell people all the time that CrossFit can be for anyone at any level of fitness. If I can do it, then anyone can! It’s worth the investment.

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?
I LOVE the PEOPLE at CCF, and I don’t think that I have ever claimed to love people collectively anywhere before. Everyone is so nice and supportive!! The coaches truly care about everyone. I love that I can show up without a plan every day, and for that hour someone else tells me what to do and how to do it.
