I am… many things but I am nothing without my beautiful wife.

I like… cats, Monster Ballads and Sudoku.

I dislike… knickknacks, dry skin and doing dishes.

I eat… based on my mood. Sometimes it’s healthy, sometimes it’s not, usually its meatloaf.

I will… be the best person I can be and let karma decide the rest.


Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…

I am the father of two awesome children and a husband to an incredible woman. When I have to play grown-up, I design and sell remote controls for industrial and automation applications. I really don’t have many hobbies other than CrossFit but I am, however, kind of a big deal when it comes to Mario Kart.

What brought you to Centerville CrossFit and CrossFit in general?

I got pretty fluffy while focusing on my career in my mid 20’s and needed a change. I started running and set what felt like an unrealistic goal of completing a 1/2 marathon. After completing that, my goal became doing a full and then eventually a 1/2 Ironman triathlon. After the 1/2 Ironman, I realized I had made a mistake and that I never wanted to do anything that involves swimming ever again. Seriously… never again! Looking for a new challenge, I stumbled across CrossFit on YouTube while looking at different obstacle races like the Spartan Race, Mudathalon, etc. I Googled local CrossFits and found Centerville CrossFit. Unfortunately at the time, I was rehabbing some broken bones I acquired while dominating the soccer field in a local elite adult league (I have since retired my cleats). Once I was able to start, I was hooked and I’ve never looked back.

What goals have you achieved? What are you new ones?

Prior to starting CrossFit, I was a heavy smoker for about 17 years. Most of my adult life, I had a goal of quitting but the attempts were half-hearted and unsuccessful. After joining Centerville CrossFit, I quickly realized that I could not do both. My desire to get better in the gym gave me enough motivation to finally quit. Regardless of any other accomplishments I may make, this will most likely be the most important and beneficial in the long run.

A big goal of mine right now is to improve my snatch. I would like a 1.25 x BW snatch but that is a long (really long) term goal.

What is your favorite movement?

My favorite movement is probably the thruster because it can be a strength movement or a conditioning movement depending how you use it.

What is your least favorite movement?

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?

Trust the process and set small realistic goals. They add up to big ones before you know it.

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?

The members. I have met a lot of great people since I’ve started. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals is the best way to achieve your goals. Plus, it makes the journey so much more enjoyable!
