I am … Anaka Davis

I like … yoga, CrossFit and humanity

I dislike … negativity

I eat … as close to paleo as possible, but then again Mexican is paleo right? Haha

I will … make a difference in this world with the time that I have been blessed with.

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…

I am a yoga instructor and CrossFitter. I love fitness and I pretty much revolve my life around it. I bar tend at night and teach during the day. Anything that can be done outside is definitely my favorite. Music festivals and traveling could be considered my top hobbies.

 

What brought you to Centerville CrossFit and CrossFit in general?

One of my coworkers in Texas started up CrossFit and I immediately noticed the physical changes she made in months. I wanted to join and get stronger for arm balances and inversions in my yogic practice. I was also sick with cancer and needed a high intensity outlet to purge my sickness from my body.

 

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?

I now know what proper lifting form looks like and I instill that in my daily workouts. Alignment and form are very important keys in yoga and also in lifting. Of course my PR’s have been really nice as well!

 

What is your favorite movement?

I am obsessed with snatching.

 

What is your least favorite movement?

Strict pull ups are pretty much the death of me, ha ha.

 

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?

” An enlightened person is the richest person possible, but his richness comes from surrender, not from fight. He does not…he has not any conflict with the whole. He has fallen in harmony, he is in harmonia.” – OSHO

 

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?

I cannot express my love for this box. Every single coach/trainer really knows what he/she is talking about. It isn’t about lifting heavy, it’s about form, progression, and patience. The gains come with the discipline that this sport calls for.

 

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?

The people are who I love the most. I love my CrossFit family. I love everyone here. They have supported me and have cheered me on the entire length of my journey, and it has only begun!

I am …  going to be a sophomore at The University of Kentucky.

I like … CrossFit!

I dislike … Running!

I eat … healthy foods!

I will … continue to CrossFit for as long as I can!

 

Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…

I played high school basketball, enjoy playing all sports. Love going to CrossFit every day. Studying business in school and looking forward to a second year at UK.

What brought you to Centerville CrossFit and CrossFit in general?

My high school basketball coach had the team do CrossFit workouts for our conditioning training and I immediately was hooked. After high school sports were over I wanted to continue CrossFit.

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?

I have continued to get stronger on all of the movements. Goals for the future include learning new things about CrossFit, improving my form on lifts and movements, and competing in more competitions.

What is your favorite movement?

Squat Clean

What your least favorite movement?

Burpees

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?

If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?

Definitely give it a shot and don’t worry if you can’t do something, everything can be scaled. You will see results by doing CrossFit.

What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?

The motivating atmosphere day-in and day-out and the people that are there everyday.
