December 2014: Scott Johnson

I am… happy.
I like… surrounding myself with good people.
I dislike… that I live so far from the gym.
I eat… not nearly as well as I should.
I will… keep trying.

What brought you to Centerville Crossfit and CrossFit in general?
My employer told me I should check it out so we went together. Everyone thinks they are in shape but gets humbled extremely quickly. I don’t have the motivation to push myself so the class atmosphere and camaraderie definitely keep me there.

What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?
I FINALLY got past my one time 1RM Snatch. It only took me about 2 years but I got it. Now I’m shooting for a 155# Snatch.

What is your favorite movement?
Everyone will hate that I say this but I really like running. Cardio aside, I really enjoy the Power Clean as well.

What is your least favorite movement?
The Thruster. I cannot seem to get the transition right with my wrists and I lose power from my hips. Yes, I like this much less than using the AeroDyne.

What is your favorite quote or words to live by?
“Master others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.”- Lao Tzu

Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?
The absolute hardest part is showing up. We all make excuses but once there we all push each other to do our best. Don’t be intimidating that others may be stronger than you or can perform a move. They were in your shoes at one point.

What do you love about Centerville Crossfit?
The coaches. You can go to any one of them with a question or an issue and they’ll help you out. I’ve never felt intimidated or unsafe about a movement or workout. They always break it down and look out for us to keep us safe and injury free.
