Paleo Treats

Many of you are attempting to transition to a healthier lifestyle via the paleo diet. As you research the web for new recipes, it’s not uncommon to come across “paleofied” versions of unhealthy recipes; paleo pizza, paleo brownies, paleo cupcakes…you can find a modified version of just about anything. While there is certainly nothing wrong with indulging in the occasional treat, we want you to remember that the goal is to make sure you are getting adequate amounts of nutrients via lean meat, lots of vegetables, seeds and nuts, and some fruit. Many of the recipes are fun and perfectly fine for special occasions, but won’t do much to help you break some of the unhealthy habits you already have, such as indulging your sweet tooth. The following article from Sarah at Everyday Paleo goes into a bit more detail in regards to the rationale behind being cautious about paleo treats.
Remember, there is not necessarily a “one size fits all” approach to diet. If you are struggling with how to eat, please talk to any of our trainers for advice!
