Jennifer Dietrich
January Athlete of the Month
I am a…
Positive, motivated, adventure driven, silly, genuinely nice girl. I see the good in every situation, find happiness in knowing I have made someone’s day better, and love to see others succeed in their lives. I will always push them to do more.
I love…
Seeing what is next… Keeping myself open to new challenges, new opportunities, the next new adventure and meeting amazing new people. Everything happens for a reason, and I will be there every time to make certain I have given it everything I have.
I dislike…
Regret. Never let an opportunity go that could end up being the best thing you’ve ever done. Then also, things that are unchangeable, trying to see it not as regret, but as it being part of your journey and who you are today.
I eat…
This has changed a lot over this past year. I still have the occasional pizza, Indian, donuts, candy and ice cream. (ok the ice cream still).. But I eat a lot of eggs, english muffins, salads, chicken.. just try to eat fairly healthy. Especially since I am around amazing food all day, every day… haha. That is difficult to ignore.
I will be…
In an even better place next year. I never thought I would have achieved what all I did this year. I am genuinely amazed at everything I accomplished, and selfishly very proud. I will be making the most out of every opportunity and pushing myself to be even healthier and happier this year. This past year has brought incredible joy to my life, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…
I am the Executive GM for Lock 27 Brewing. I have been with the company since they opened 6 years ago, and I absolutely love it. It is extremely flexible for my new lifestyle, and it allows me to do everything I need to do in my personal life. Yet it is challenging and keeps my mind constantly going. Hobbies for me are all new this past year! I have started running, trail running, biking on and off road and have loved all of it!! I don’t watch tv, but when I do it is always The Office or Parks & Rec. Over and over and over. Haha.. It is silly and makes me laugh.
What brought you to Centerville CrossFit and CrossFit in general?
My friend introduced me to Centerville CrossFit. I would see pics about it, go to events, or look into it, and think “There is no way in hell I could ever do that”. As soon as I started working with Coach Jen, working out with my friends and the amazing people there, I knew I had found something I loved. I started seeing subtle changes, and then they weren’t so subtle any longer. I was stronger, leaner, more fit, then I ever had been. I believe CrossFit takes a very strong, determined mind and I have found my fit. I have lost over 20lbs since March just with my lifestyle changes. No gimmick diets or fads… just a new outlook and very hard work.
What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?
I have several achieved goals this year! I have ran two 5Ks, a 5 mile race and did the CF open. I have never been so proud of the silly metals I got for those races!! I will be going out to Colorado in May to run the 10K Boulder Boulder, and then will train and plan to run a half marathon this fall.
What is your favorite movement?
I love rowing, wallballs, hang cleans, snatches.
What is your least favorite movement?
Burpees, thrusters, overhead squats. However… 10 months ago I couldn’t even do a burpee really.. so at least I can do them. Haha. Still don’t like them.
What is your favorite quote or words to live by?
“Do more of what makes you happy”
Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking about joining?
YES! Stick with it!! Don’t give up on your goals! It is challenging and intimidating at first, but so worth all of it. Talk to your coach when you feel defeated or don’t understand something. Coach Jen worked so closely with me, and still does, to ensure every movement is correct to maximize its results, and that you don’t get hurt.
What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?
Absolutely everything. The friendships I have made and literally laughing during workouts. How amazing is that? The results I have seen. How challenging it is. How it pushes me every day. And how it has given me the ability to know that I can do anything I set my mind to. We have one life…. Do what you can to make it the most amazing life you ever imagined. Find a Way.
