I will…

Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, occupation, etc…
I work in Clinical Research, and have done so for nearly 20 years. I have a pretty amazing little boy who I am honored to be raising. I spend most of my free time with my family. Aside from coming to CCF and occasionally bike riding, I don’t have a lot of hobbies although I do love to cook and grill.
What brought you to Centerville CrossFit and CrossFit in general?
I’ve always enjoyed staying active and working out. I joined CCF almost 6 years ago on recommendation, and I’m so glad I did!
What goals have you achieved? What are your new ones?
Well, pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood in general really threw me for a loop and it has taken me a long time to find my way forward again from a fitness standpoint. When my son was born three years ago I pretty much started back at square one. There were many starts and stops along the way, but I just kept getting back up and trying again. Over the past year, in particular, I started to take my nutrition more seriously than I ever have and it has really impacted my fitness performance. I recently set a new PR for my 2K row, the first time in about 5 years, which is pretty exciting. My goal moving forward is to continue to focus on proper form and rebuild my core strength.
What is your favorite movement?
Now that I have conquered my fear of box jumps, I actually like them. I also like power cleans, snatches, and rowing.
What is your least favorite movement?
Double-unders, primarily because I cannot seem to crack the secret code.
What is your favorite quote or words to live by?
“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.
Do you have any advice to new members or someone thinking
about joining?
CrossFit really is for anyone. A high quality coach is going to know how to scale any workout to meet your fitness level. The coaching staff at CCF is highly experienced and dedicated to helping each athlete grow, so don’t be nervous to give it a try. Plus, it’s fun, rewarding and you will definitely make some new friends along the way.
What do you love about Centerville CrossFit?
The coaching staff is excellent (as previously mentioned!). Also, this is such a welcoming and supportive community no matter where you are in your fitness journey. It’s a special place with special people whose support and encouragement reach far beyond the walls of the gym.
